An unusually large number of legislators and prominent Minnesota politicos are opting to run in county commissioner races across the state.
Attorney Susan Allen was elected in House District 61B, replacing former Rep. Jeff Hayden. Hennepin County staffer Kari Dziedzic easily won the Senate District 59 seat in northeast Minneapolis to replace former Senate Majority Leader Larry Pogemiller.

In the race for dollars, Kari Dziedzic and Peter Wagenius bested the pack of DFLers vying for the nomination in the Senate District 59 race to succeed former Sen. Larry Pogemiller. The amount of money raised in a month of campaigning exceeds the amounts raised by many legislative campaigns in an entire election year.

With a host of issues like light rail ridership and civic pride on the line, Hennepin County officials are keeping their powder dry in the event that they can find an opening to advance a Minnesota Vikings stadium plan.
Two days after filing to run for the Senate seat being vacated by Larry Pogemiller, Cordelia Pierson has dropped out of the contest. Instead Pierson announced that she is backing Kari Dziedzic, one of six DFLers remaining in the contest. Dziedzic is currently a policy aid to Hennepin County Commissioner Mark Stenglein.
The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) board of trustees is seeking applicants to fill three open positions on the board.
