It’s official: Marty Seifert launches second bid for governor’s office

Seifert, who lost the GOP endorsement to run for governor in 2010, announced his campaign for the office in his hometown of Marshall Thursday morning before starting on a 13-city tour that included stops in St. Paul and Mankato. He highlighted his work with the Avera Marshall Foundation in the years since he left the Legislature, while at the same time rolling out a detailed five-point plan to cut back on government bureaucracy and spending, an extension of his work as a Republican lawmaker in St. Paul.

Dayton wants to temporarily suspend provisional release of sex offenders

The Capitol Note: MMB plans to go forward with stadium bond sale

Minnesota Management and Budget Commissioner Jim Schowalter rejected calls from American Indian activists who were pushing for the delay of bond sales on the new Minnesota Vikings stadium, the Star Tribune reports. The activists are trying to get assurances that the word "Redskins," the' nickname for the Washington, D.C. NFL team, will not be displayed inside the stadium.
