Former DFL state Rep. Mike Obermueller has released his first television ad in his campaign to defeat incumbent U.S. Rep. John Kline in the 2nd Congressional District. The ad, focusing on a fictional pizza shop, criticizes Washington for wasteful spending and failing to make the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes.

Michele Bachmann, running for her fourth term representing Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional district, pulled in just more than $1 million in the month of July, easily surpassing her fellow Minnesota Congressmen and women in total fundraising hauls, as well as her Democratic opponent Jim Graves, who raised $64,000 in that period.

Minnesota House and Senate candidates took in more than $6 million during the second quarter of 2012, according to reports filed with the Federal Elections Commission. U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann raked in the biggest haul at $1.9 million. That's more than six times the amount raised by DFL challenger Jim Graves in the Sixth Congressional District.
DFL candidate and former state Rep. Mike Obermueller announced on Monday that he had raised about $252,000 over a two-month time period, the best fundraising numbers for DFL candidate in the second district in nearly a decade.

Mike Obermueller made his campaign against Congressman John Kline official this week. “John Kline hasn’t changed Washington nearly as much as Washington has changed John Kline,” Obermueller told supporters on Monday.
