State GOP pols don't want the federal health care proposal to wash up on Minnesota's shores. DFLers in the Legislature, however, said there's $3 billion in reasons the state needs the bill to pass.

The Minnesota governor's race is wide open, according to a new poll by Rasmussen Reports. The survey pitted the two leading Republican contenders against six of the likely Democratic nominees. The upshot: Republicans won nine of the twelve potential contests, but by mostly narrow margins.

GOP gubernatorial front-runners Tom Emmer and Marty Seifert both received endorsements today from high-profile Minnesota conservatives.

The vast majority of delegates have now been chosen for April's state political conventions. While there's no public master list of where their allegiances lie, a couple of web sites have been keeping close tabs on the gubernatorial delegate hunt.

There's no better way to get a real feel for a campaign than to spend a day with the candidate, particularly a grueling day. That's exactly what I did with GOP hopeful Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Delano) and his team this past Super Saturday, when 43 BPOUs (basic political organizational units) held their conventions, selecting about 25 percent of the delegates who will vote to endorse in the state GOP party convention.

As we predicted yesterday, GOP gubernatorial hopeful Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Delano) landed a few "super" endorsements the day before the state GOP's "Super Saturday."

The Minnesota GOP is calling this Saturday "Super Saturday" because 43 BPOUs (basic political organization units) are holding their conventions.

The contest for legislative endorsements in the GOP gubernatorial contest remains almost a dead heat. State Rep. Marty Seifert currently claims 16 members of the legislature as supporters, while Rep. Tom Emmer boasts 18 state House and Senate backers.
