
Norm Coleman's surprise announcement that he won't be running for governor, combined with Rep. Marty Seifert's (R-Marshall) self-proclaimed status as the front runner in the contest for the GOP endorsement, mean that the guy in the race to watch right now is Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Delano).

Pat Anderson announced today that she's dropping out of the governor's race, opting instead to pursue her former post as state auditor. But the move has prompted renewed speculation about a different politician: Norm Coleman.

About 150 members of the union's screening committee met with all the DFL candidates - and GOP candidate Pat Anderson - for about 3 and a half hours Saturday afternoon. Former State Auditor Pat Anderson has joined the growing ranks of GOP candidates running for governor.
Anderson sounded alarm about Minnesota’s fiscal future in her press release this morning in which she officially announced her candidacy. In doing so, she said the next governor won’t be able to solve a multi-billion dollar budget deficit through unallotment. [...]
