
Americans United for Change, a progressive advocacy group, has rolled out a new radio ad that criticizes U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., for her recent suggestion that Americans be "weaned off" of Social Security and Medicare.
Despite political obstacles in Congress that have made the federal health care reform package less expansive than originally advertised, the stakes remain high for Minnesota.
The key issues at this point involve proposed reforms to Medicare and Medicaid, the twin pillars of federal health care funding, that could go a long way toward reducing state costs to care for the poor and stopping the net outflow of Minnesota tax dollars.
