There are two clear front-runners in the battle for the DFL gubernatorial endorsement: House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher and Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak. By the only measures currently available – caucus straw poll, pledged delegates – they’re well ahead of the rest of pack of contenders. That will almost certainly remain the case when delegates assemble for the statewide party convention in Duluth at the end of April.

The vast majority of delegates have now been chosen for April's state political conventions. While there's no public master list of where their allegiances lie, a couple of web sites have been keeping close tabs on the gubernatorial delegate hunt.

Matt Entenza, one of a dozen DFL candidates for Minnesota governor, has hired longtime cohort Dave Colling as his campaign manager.

Paul Thissen is making one last ditch effort to reach DFL activists before they head off to precinct caucuses. It's shortly after 5:30 p.m. and Thissen's punching in phone numbers as a driver guides his vehicle towards Woodbury.

The DFL gubernatorial contest still appears wide open. Organized labor has failed to unite behind a single candidate. The money chase has also yielded little distance between the candidates.

Yesterday Matt Entenza's gubernatorial campaign announced that it had added several new staff members. Unmentioned in the press release was the fact that campaign manager Dana Houle has left the Entenza camp.

Matt Entenza's gubernatorial campaign staff is growing. The former House Minority Leader announced today that he's adding a field coordinator, director of operations, deputy communications director and 15 regional organizers.

The Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board has fined Speaker of the House Margaret Anderson Kelliher's gubernatorial campaign committee $9,000 and the Minnesota DFL Party $15,000 for intentionally violating Minnesota campaign laws.

Matt Entenza raised more than $300,000 in 2009 for his gubernatorial campaign. The former House Minority Leader received contributions from more than 1,700 donors, according to his campaign.

Legislators, political observers and a handful of gubernatorial candidates were quick to react to Wednesday's district court ruling suggesting that Gov. Tim Pawlenty's unallotments earlier this year were unconstitutional. Here's what they said.
