
Last night, Reps. Tom Emmer (R-Delano) and Marty Seifert (R-Marshall), the two top GOP contenders for governor squared off at Armstrong High School for one of the three last debates currently scheduled before the GOP state convention begins April 29.

Rep. Marty Seifert wasn't exactly anticipating success for his proposal to roll back the state's renewable energy goals. The Marshall Republican, who is running for governor, knew his bill was unlikely to gain much support before the House's Energy Finance and Policy Division.

If it’s possible to judge a legislator’s re-election vulnerability solely on the number of challengers that he or she attracts, then Lisa Fobbe, Jim Carlson and Kevin Dahle should probably watch their backs.

The Minnesota governor's race is wide open, according to a new poll by Rasmussen Reports. The survey pitted the two leading Republican contenders against six of the likely Democratic nominees. The upshot: Republicans won nine of the twelve potential contests, but by mostly narrow margins.
