The contest for legislative endorsements in the GOP gubernatorial contest remains almost a dead heat. State Rep. Marty Seifert currently claims 16 members of the legislature as supporters, while Rep. Tom Emmer boasts 18 state House and Senate backers.

State Sen. David Hann will have to campaign hard to win re-election now that he has dropped out of the governor's race.

Minnesota state Rep. Tom Emmer, R-Delano, racked up more than half of the votes in a straw poll over the weekend at a forum in Sibley County for the state's Republican gubernatorial candidates.
