
For God's sake (or at least for St. Peter's sake), could just a few good legislators in those anti-tax straitjackets please listen to and heed former Gov. Al Quie, a Christian conservative of uncommon common sense and compassion?

Al Quie can be forgiven for feeling a bit of déjà vu these days.The man who served as Minnesota's 35th governor, from 1979 to 1983, has been watching the state's escalating budget crisis with a sense that he's seen it all before.
Because, for all intents and purposes, he has.
