Bachmann tops 2009 money hunt

U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann raised more money in 2009 than any other House member from Minnesota. The 6th Congressional District legislator pulled in more than $1.5 million and reported having just over $1 million in the bank.

Fellow Republican Rep. Erik Paulsen had the next largest haul, collecting almost $1.2 million in 2009. The first-term legislator had more than $900,000 in the bank at the close of the year.

Here’s a rundown of the 2009 fundraising figures for the rest of Minnesota’s House members and their announced challengers, as reported to the Federal Election Commission:

GOP Rep. Erik Paulsen: Raised $1,197,529.62; reported $943,923.47 cash on hand

DFL challenger Maureen Hackett: Raised $63,202.85; reported $129,370.98 cash on hand

DFL challenger Jim Meffert: Raised $47,692.00; reported $32,787.70 cash on hand

4th Congressional District

DFL Rep. Betty McCollum: Raised $374,905.57; reported $105,787.43 cash on hand
