The umbrella organization for the Teamsters unions in Minnesota today endorsed former Democratic U.S. Sen. Mark Dayton for governor.
Teamsters Joint Council 32 represents 62,000 active and retired members.
Candidates were screened on Jan. 6 and Jan. 8, according to a Teamsters spokesman. All DFL candidates participated and no Republicans participated.
The union is an umbrella organization for 14 Teamsters local unions in Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota.
Last year Teamsters Local 120 endorsed Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak for governor.
Dayton has also been endorsed by the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees Council 5.
