DFL gubernatorial candidate Tom Rukavina this evening was endorsed by the union for Minnesota media and other communications workers.
The Communications Workers of America [CWA] Minnesota State Council endorsed Rukavina, a state representative from Virginia. The union represents more than 8,000 workers in communications, manufacturing, newspaper, television and transportation industries.
Veteran Pioneer Press state Capitol reporter Bill Salisbury noted in a wry post on the paper’s political blog that he will ask the union not to spend his dues on political contributions.
“I’ll be as tough on Rukavina as the other candidates,” Salisbury wrote.
The diminutive Rukavina thanked CWA for their backing.
“I’m so excited about this endorsement, it makes me feel 5-and-a-half-feet tall,” Rukavina said.
Rukavina has also been endorsed by five local steelworkers unions.
