Maureen Reed, who is seeking the Democratic endorsement to challenge U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., in November, raised $207,800 in the fourth quarter of 2009 and a total of $574,600 for the entire year.
Reed’s campaign ended the year with $388,000 in cash on hand, according to a news release from Reed’s campaign this morning.
Campaign officials said more than 99 percent of Reed’s donations came from individuals, and more than 90 percent came from within Minnesota.
“Building on our early success, we are incredibly pleased with our results from last quarter,” Reed campaign manager Jason Isaacson said in a statement. “This report shows positive energy surrounding our campaign.”
Reed is one of two Democrats hoping to receive the party’s endorsement; the other announced candidate is State Sen. Tarryl Clark of St. Cloud. Neither Clark nor Bachmann have released their campaigns’ fundraising totals.
Candidates for federal office must file fundraising reports with the Federal Election Commission by Jan. 31.
