On a check-in call with gubernatorial candidate Sen. Tom Bakk (DFL-Cook), we learned that he and Ellen Perrault, his communications director, are stuck in a snowbank outside of Heron Lake on Highway 60. At this point, the two plan to wait out the storm (and declined our offer to try to find help).
Both Bakk and Perrault are in good spirits and very glad to be safe and sound in Bakk’s black 2001 Cadillac Eldorado. Bakk reports he’s getting a lot of work done on the fundraising call front and plans to wait out the storm for a few hours. Perrault sounded somewhat surprised when she heard that, in the background.
Bakk reports that he doesn’t know how much he raised last year — the reason for the call — because he hasn’t yet had a chance to to meet with his campaign treasurer. Bakk was happy because he’d just had a good meeting with some Worthington Globe editors, who were surprised Bakk showed up.
Good luck digging out! Then, again, there’s always the sympathy card to play in those fundraising calls…so, good luck if you want to stay stuck!
