Woodbury has chosen Allina Hospitals & Clinics to provide medical direction for its police, fire and emergency services divisions.

The city chose Allina from among three area hospital organizations that submitted bids. “When staff compared the costs of each vendor for the services we deem necessary, Allina had the best value,” said J.B. Guiton, Woodbury EMS commander, in a press release.

Allina spokesman Tim Burke says that state regulations require all ambulance services to have a medical director to provide guidance on standards of care and protocols. Allina’s Dr. Paul Satterlee has been designated the company’s medical director for Woodbury.

Satterlee is considered a leader in pre-hospital emergency care, Burke says.

“He is the physician who is the lead person under the contract, although there are other people to fill in as needed should he not be available at a particular time,” Burke says.

Allina’s contract with Woodbury starts on Jan. 1.
