UPDATE 1:30 PM: Due to U.S. House floor votes, Rep. Jim Oberstar’s (DFL-MN8) office now says the press conference will be at 2 p.m. central time. MinnPost has Oberstar’s nifty hand-drawn sketch of the situation.
PIM has obtained U.S. Rep. Jim Oberstar’s (DFL-MN8) upcoming transportation white paper, which is going to be discussed at a Washington, D.C., press conference in about 25 minutes (the live webcast should be here). It’s officially titled, "The Surface Transportation Authorization Act of 2009: A Blueprint for Investment and Reform/The Federal Surface Transportation Framework."
Seems to be a pretty big deal. Here’s the short summary PDF and the blueprint for program consolidation PDF.
A new national advocacy group, Transportation for America, is also involved with this effort. Additionally, the local group Transit for Livable Communities put out a statement, below the fold:
TRANSPORTATION FOR AMERICA’S MINNESOTA COALITION COMMENDS CHAIRMAN OBERSTAR FOR JUMPSTART ON TRANSPORTATION REFORM, CALLS FOR CONTINUED COMMITMENT TO REFORM FROM CONGRESS AND THE ADMINISTRATION

is it still highly likely a ruling will be handed down today, by 4:30?
