There are plenty of tax-related “tea party” demonstrations coming up around the state as April 15 approaches–the idea being to mount public protests of out-of-control government spending and, in particular, federal stimulus spending. Get an official flyer here (PDF).
St. Paul will participate in a nationwide burst of more than 300 Tax Day Tea Parties, rallies modeled after the Boston Tea Party of 1773. The Twin Cities group will assemble at the Capitol at 5 p.m., and events are also planned for Austin, Bemidji, Brainerd, Duluth, Mankato, Mille Lacs County, North Branch, Rochester, St. Cloud, Steele County and Willmar. Ceremonial dumping of tea to ensue? Check out Minnesotans Tea Party for more.
There’s also going to be an “End the Fed” tea party at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis on April 25. Law enforcement anxiety isn’t just directed towards the left lately: Anti-Fed protesters got tagged as sharing traits with radical militia members in a now notorious report from the Missouri Joint Analysis Center. How will the Federal Reserve Police handle these demonstrations?
Below the fold, various press releases (it appears Pat Anderson is leading media coordination), a video from U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN6) to tea party participants, and a general promotional video.
Here’s the nationally-targeted tea party video:
We also got this press release, touting the Capitol area’s Sears parking spaces selling out:

Response overwhelming, Sears’ parking lot already sold outSt. Paul Tea Party organizers were informed today by Sears manager Matt Rice that all parking spaces have been sold for the April 15th event. Sears sold over 350 spaces for $5 in just a few days.
Tea Party organizers are encouraging citizens to carpool, ride the city buses and check the Tea Party website for information on other Capitol event parking.

Isn’t this great! I love that people have been able to come together independently to confront an issue that they are unhappy with. July 4th there will be another round of Tea Parties. Check out http://www.reteaparty.com to help organize or join an Independence Day Tea Party near you.

The following states have provision for recalling US Senators: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington and Wisconsin.
More information is available at http://www.ehow.com/how_2096900_recall-us-senator.html
I am going to attempt to get this information to as many Tea Party Groups in these states that have Democrat US Senators as I can. If a wide-spread recall movement can be quickly started this action will send a powerful message to all democrats.
I urgently solicit your help in getting this movement initiated toward completion by spreading the message to every one you know in any of the 17 states except GA and Idaho which have conservative senators.
And yes, I am starting this effort on Christmas Eve and will continue on Christmas day because I believe that has huge strategic potential if it is swiftly undertaken on a wide-spread basis. New Jersey has already started a recall petition and Minnesota has started talking about it.
Thank you and merry Christmas,
Carter Reames
