Election Day. As Oprah would say, "here we go!"
Want to know who’s pontificating where tonight? Here you go:
On KSTP TV, you can find former DFL Asst. Sen. Majority Leader Ember Reichgott Junge facing off against the Minnesota Free Market Institutes’s David Strom.
Expect heavyABC network election coverage. KARE 11 skips the partisans
this cycle and goes with Washington University political science
professor Steve Smith and Hamline University professor David Schultz. KARE,
too, will primarily run national NBC coverage. WCCO TV will run CBS
network coverage the entire night, with two five-minute local cut-ins
per hour. ‘CCO will also start a live Web cast starting at 8 p.m. and
going until the major Minnesota races are decided. In studio and on the
Web will be political reporter Pat Kessler and U of M Professor Larry Jacobs.
Minnesota political junkies who want the best local fix will want to
stick with Fox 9. The station will begin live local coverage at 5 p.m.
until 7 p.m. Fox 9 will then run national Fox coverage from 7 to
9 p.m. and return to local coverage at 9 p.m., with nonstop election coverage until things are
decided. Never fear on those lost two national hours: Fox 9 will run a
local Web cast during that time slot. Providing commentary on Fox 9
will be former Gov. Arne Carson, Minneapolis St. Paul magazine’s Brian Lambert, U of M political science professor Kathryn Pearson, Concordia University history professor David Woodward and your publisher.
On the radio, GOPer Tom Horner and DFLer Todd Rapp will be on MPR; GOPer Mary Krinkie and DFLer Blois Olson, on WCCO.
Check back here throughout the day and night. The Capitol Report, Finance & Commerce, Minnesota Lawyer and PIM gangs are out and about all over town and will be posting.
Everybody vote and let’s keep our our fingers crossed that we have clear outcomes on all the races.
