Whether Al Franken likes it or not, it all comes back to his "Saturday Night Live" legacy.
At the end of his remarks just a few minutes ago, the strains of Paul Simon’s "You Can Call Me Al" soared through the arena.
Simon was a frequent guest on "SNL" back in the Franken era. And remember the video? With Simon and "SNL" veteran Chevy Chase?
Maybe the song was a sign that Franken is embracing that legacy.
