Americans for Prosperity recruiting volunteers for anti-Obama phone banks, door knocks
Conservative advocacy group Americans for Prosperity Minnesota is seeking volunteers to make phone calls and knock on doors in the western suburbs. The group has sent out mailers and placed newspaper advertisements seeking recruits for “Freedom Action Centers.”
Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is not registered as an independent expenditure group and therefore can’t explicitly endorse candidates. But the flier seeking volunteers makes it pretty clear on which side of the electoral divide the group falls: “Obama’s failing agenda tour” is the headline on the piece.
AFP is seeking recruits for phone calling and door-knocking operations in Eden Prairie, Maple Grove and St. Louis Park. The centers will operate from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. from October 31 through Election Day.
This is the first election cycle in which AFP has been active politically in Minnesota. The group previously drew notice for attacking state Rep. Connie Doepke in a GOP primary contest. AFP was founded with support from conservative billionaires David and Charles Koch.
