Voices of Conservative Women announces state House and Senate endorsements
Voices of Conservative Women is backing 18 female GOP candidates in state legislative contests, it announced on Monday. The list includes three candidates who are engaged in GOP primary contests.
The conservative advocacy group is supporting Sen. Julianne Ortman over GOP challenger Bruce Schwichtenberg in Senate District 47. Neither candidate received party backing.
It’s also backing GOP challenger Cindy Pugh over 11-term incumbent Rep. Steve Smith in House District 33B. Pugh is the GOP-endorsed candidate.
Voices is also supporting Karin Housley over fellow GOP challenger Eric Langness for an open seat in Senate District 39. There was no endorsing convention because incumbent GOP Sen. Ray Vandeveer announced his retirement just hours before the filing deadline.
Overall Voices is supporting 10 incumbents and 8 challengers. This is the group’s first round of legislative endorsements and it will likely back additional candidates later in the election cycle. See the full list here.
