Brian Barnes and Jim Graves both won DFL endorsement at a pair of conventions this weekend.
Graves, a luxury hotel owner, beat two other DFLers to get the party’s nod to challenge incumbent GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann in the 6th Congressional District. Graves won on the first ballot against Brian McGoldrick and Anne Nolan.
Barnes, a marketing executive, won endorsement on the first ballot to challenge incumbent GOP Rep. Erik Paulsen in the 3rd Congressional District. He beat Sharon Sund. In a press release he praised Sund’s campaign effort.
“Sharon and her supporters should be very proud of the campaign they waged,” Barnes said. “And over the coming days and weeks, I look forward to earning their trust and their support.”

A luxury hotel owner and a marketing executive? Looks like “business friendly” has become bipartisan. The only issues the Republican Party has left to itself are keeping gays from marrying and preventing students from voting.
