The Hill: Pawlenty no longer “a first-tier candidate”

The other Minnesotan in the race, U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, had a stronger showing, yet not as strong as some of her recent results have indicated.

Kindly point to a single national poll where he EVER was a first tier candidate.

I would just like to point out that you did not mention Ron Paul anywhere in this article. He recently polled 3rd in a Gallup national poll, while winning 57% of the Independent votes(which is key to winning a general election) vs Obama.

  3. Sigmund Freud Says:

Pawlenty was never a first-tier candidate. The GOP race will be between Ron Paul, Rick Perry, and Mitt Romney. Michelle Bachmann is already toast, she hates gays. Herman Cain is toast, he hates Moslems.

Pawlenty was never a first-tier candidate, by the polls or by any other reasonable standard. That didn’t prevent the East Coast Geniuses from anointing him as such, however. As late as July 1st, Chris Cillizza, the WaPo’s resident (The Fix) election guru (whose persistent cluelessness on Minnesota politics makes me ponder why anybody follows him), was still attaching Pawlenty’s name to the phrase “the primary alternative to former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.”

  5. John Milton Says:

The national media geniuses have never taken the time to review Pawlenty’s actual record as governor of Minnesota. It was an utter disaster, taking “the state that works” to its lowest level in history. Pawlenty’s “nice guy” image is a cover for a homophobic, racist, anti-government, religious zealot whose profile is identical with that of Michele Bachmann, but whose conning of the media geniuses has allowed him to escape their scrutiny. We in Minnesota, whose recent shutdown is a direct legacy of the former governor, know better. John Milton, Afton MN

Ron paul has polled top in some, and top tier in all, Gary Johnson polled higher then Pawlenty I think!

Yes he sux but so does the reporting the distortions through omissions!
