The Senate has appointed its five members to serve on the Legislative Commission on Pensions and Retirement. The commission is a joint House/Senate body with full-time staff that research and craft legislation in one of state government’s most complicated fiscal and policy areas.
Out of the three Republicans appointed by the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, two are freshmen: Roger Chamberlain of Lino Lakes and Ted Daley of Eagan. Sen. Julie Rosen, R-Fairmont, who served on pensions in the last biennium, is being elevated to chairwoman.
The two Senate DFLers appointed are Sandy Pappas of St. Paul and Larry Pogemiller of Minneapolis. Pappas is returning as a member of the commission. Pogemiller didn’t serve on the commission in the last couple sessions but was the commission’s chairman for a time last decade.
The House hasn’t appointed its pension commission members yet.
