Gaertner, Foley back Bostrom in Sheriff’s contest

Ramsey County Attorney Susan Gaertner is supporting Matt Bostrom in the Ramsey County Sheriff’s contest. Gaertner’s predecessor in the post, Tom Foley, is also backing Bostrom in his bid to oust four-term incumbent Bob Fletcher.

At a press conference in front of the Ramsey County Courthouse this morning, Foley stated that Bostrom will create a “working environment not dominated by fear and reprisals, as is the case today.”

Bostrom is also supported by the last three St. Paul police chiefs — Thomas Smith, John Harrington and William Finney. “I say no to Bob Fletcher,” stated Harrington, who is running for a state Senate seat representing St. Paul. “No you  have not been a good and faithful servant.”

Four years ago Fletcher narrowly defeated Finney in a bitter contest. Bostrom has been a St. Paul cop for nearly three decades.
