Ralph Nader, the consumer advocate and frequent presidential candidate, is supporting Ken Pentel in the governor’s race. Pentel is running on the Ecology Democracy ticket, a fledgling political party that he created.
Pentel has made two previous runs for the state’s top office under the Green Party banner. In 2002 he drew support from 2.3 percent of voters; four years later he failed to top one percent.
“In a 2000 Business Week poll, over 70% of the people said corporations have too much control over their lives,” Nader said in a statement announcing the endorsement. “This was before the corporate outrages, corporate militarism and Wall Street Collapse, recession and bailout of the past decade. Ken Pentel gets this feeling by a large majority of Americans in an experienced and knowledgeable way. He is a long time Minnesotan, fighter for fairness, justice and wise and healthy use of natural resources – air, water, soil, energy.”

Nader endorsing Pentel is like John Doe endorsing Jack Doe. All are nobodies, except that Nader used to be a somebody that turned into a nut.

John, sorry you have nothing to add to the conversation except 3rd grade level name calling. As Nader has persevered over half a century in bringing forth social justice and looking at the root of the problems, the Pentel campaign is looking at systematic changes in MN. As mandated, he and Erin Wallace will work to establish an ecology-based economy through whole cost accounting, to implement proportional representation for the MN State House and most important – remove big mony and corporate interference in our government. Minnesota has been the most lobbied state per capita in the nation. Let our voices be heard and reclaim our democracy.
Congratulations Ken and Erin! This endorsement is well deserved.

Nader has been right on with his critiques of US policies and Pentel is offering new ideas for Minnesota; if voters could hear other than the corporate influenced lines the would vote in greater numbers for actual change.
