DFL budget proposal clears Senate by one vote

The Senate passed a DFL proposal to close the state's $3 billion budget deficit by a 34-33 vote margin today. State Sen. Tarryl Clark cast the deciding vote after the board was held open for nearly 20 minutes with the legislative body deadlocked. The DFL proposal, unveiled this morning, includes a $1.8 billion accounting shift, $680 million in cuts and a $435 million tax increase.
