House District 17A
Candidates:

Suburban/exurban mix. This district is one of the fastest growing areas in the state, where first-time home buyers find a good, small town quality of life with a manageable commute to the Twin Cities. Many big box retailers have also come to this now bedroom community including Wal-Mart, Target and Menard's. Cambridge has become a regional economic center, not just a county seat with a major medical center. The city is also home to the Cambridge Community College, which attracts students from all over east central Minnesota. Many residents commute to jobs in St. Cloud and the Twin Cities area. Politically, this one time DFL stronghold has become increasingly Republican because of social issues and residential growth.
